Mandatory emergency reserves (PNR) are legally required stocks of crude oil, petroleum products, and biogenic raw materials and fuels. They are available in the event of serious supply shortages. Companies that import these products into Austria must hold 25 percent of their net imports from the previous calendar year as of July 1st of each year
maintain as mandatory emergency reserves. The ELG can assume this storage obligation for importing companies. Upon contractual assumption, the corresponding obligation for the agreed quantity and for the duration of a storage period is transferred to the ELG.

Special provisions apply to companies importing products subject to storage obligations for the first time. The timing of the initial imports, the quantities imported, and the duration of the import activity influence the scope and commencement of the storage obligation.
The ELG supports you with questions regarding the calculation, assumption, and processing of your storage obligations.
The ELG assumes the statutory storage obligation for importing companies. The new assumption tariffs are published in January of each year.
The ELG charges a uniform flat rate for all product groups.
